You would expect a restaurant that you are taken to by your tour guide when on a Princess cruise to be touristy and unexceptional……….this is what we found across the board on our shore excursions with TWO exceptions. Marmita Restaurant, in the tiny village of Megalochori, was one.
This little taverna is located in the town square, surrounded by bougainvillea and whitewashed homes. The cafe’s dogs and cats run free, sometimes hiding under your table. Locals come for the unpretentious food and friendly atmosphere.
We had a sampling of mezze………..tapenade, tzatsiki, eggplant, tomato fritters, some sort of potato dish. All were delicious, very fresh and well prepared ! The house wine (carafes were on the table) was adequate. Pita bread finished off………delightful !
